I enjoyed making my Flesh Tearers Smash Captain so much last week that I decided to make another one!! That’s right... I have made a second smash captain!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuG4PTCzD-9JSV9EJ4j7SoIqRs0hUlp0UaG4vXuFxJWbINs4ZAZmLjNACA-wx1mMEQ0Rm2AL44QOf_30H1VwHNcvuMJ15xEMl8wUob6DqDTBIFJoDlET5Xk-NwnF_CfzG11eEdzW3dLa8/s1600/F1D313F9-AD1D-4805-8892-55B550F4A274.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1166" height="320" id="id_89e8_3dcd_4d3c_2631" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuG4PTCzD-9JSV9EJ4j7SoIqRs0hUlp0UaG4vXuFxJWbINs4ZAZmLjNACA-wx1mMEQ0Rm2AL44QOf_30H1VwHNcvuMJ15xEMl8wUob6DqDTBIFJoDlET5Xk-NwnF_CfzG11eEdzW3dLa8/s320/F1D313F9-AD1D-4805-8892-55B550F4A274.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 233px;" width="233" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once again I decided to arm him with a mighty Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield in order to deliver excessive damage on all his targets and then be able to weather the inevitable retaliatory strikes. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In a bid to keep this might warrior consistent with the rest of my force I have utilised a variety of components from multiple Space Marine kits in order to represent archaic Adeptus Astartes Battle Plate.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So as promised in my last post I have spent this week working on an HQ Character to lead my steadily expanding Flesh Tearers Force into battle for Sanguinius and the Emperor of Mankind.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Having experienced the unpleasantness of being on the receiving end of my best mate’s Ultramarines Smash Captain a few weeks ago I decided that I would have to fight fire-with-fire..... and so I built my own Smash Captain! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks to the Blood Angels special rules and bespoke stratagems this fella is likely to be even more deadly than his blue armoured counterpart!</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For those of you who don’t recognise the term... a Smash Captain in Warhammer 40,000 is a Space Marine Captain (usually Blood Angels or Space Wolf) equipped with a thunder hammer, jump pack and sometimes a storm shield.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This potent combo allows the character to deep strike, Smash up most opponents with the hammer and survive huge amounts of enemy attacks... Nasty!</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In keeping with my theme of old power armour marks I have equipped this officer with Mark VI Corvus power armour made up of components from a vast number of Space Marine and Blood Angel boxsets.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This use of old armour allows me to play this Force as current 40k Flesh Tearers or as 30k Blood Angels 5th Company under Captain Amit right at the end of the Heresy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I massively enjoyed painting and assembling this guy, so I might work on some more Flesh Tearers characters soon!!</div>

Flesh Tearers Sternguard Squad!!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I finally decided to finish off my Flesh Tearers Sternguard Squad this week by painting up the last four miniatures that were required to bring the unit up to a full ten marines.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyKvcyMj2V0pO_QI-FBJQ4aFZs7Jj6G25qtbT7t-XFBiw8RwAByYo-r0w3Y58QWJb7UHl5EIZ1ZznqeKjlpf3yLxBaAnSsFXSlLAY8CtcUx4Dc6M99iMGWg6dHrtI5H_n1GS1L2cfAx28/s1600/3F50FC42-CBBD-4354-B794-E6F727D8AA99.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="787" data-original-width="1600" height="157" id="id_caa8_bfff_9956_c568" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyKvcyMj2V0pO_QI-FBJQ4aFZs7Jj6G25qtbT7t-XFBiw8RwAByYo-r0w3Y58QWJb7UHl5EIZ1ZznqeKjlpf3yLxBaAnSsFXSlLAY8CtcUx4Dc6M99iMGWg6dHrtI5H_n1GS1L2cfAx28/s320/3F50FC42-CBBD-4354-B794-E6F727D8AA99.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 320px;" width="320" /></a></div>
As per the previous brethren I painted last week; I constructed these chaps using a mixture of components sourced from a variety of Citadel kits.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The primary base for all of them were the Maximus Armour models from the MKIV Tactical squad as this remains my favourite armour Mark.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaHKrigb1bIQEVInt-5xR1Fqp1STlRzmt1TYrhaoPwKbPcKNDKC6WCO_dEcVh-on-9Oacw2PbB3DMSPAPYxB74xc4zYBkPy0Tb6RkOGBPRD4QrZJwKFwJhTT3se0woQnqITuXomqPqKWI/s1600/E9EE1296-FAB4-4228-88A0-D93FEB5518E3.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="732" data-original-width="1600" height="146" id="id_c3c0_6916_b813_903d" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaHKrigb1bIQEVInt-5xR1Fqp1STlRzmt1TYrhaoPwKbPcKNDKC6WCO_dEcVh-on-9Oacw2PbB3DMSPAPYxB74xc4zYBkPy0Tb6RkOGBPRD4QrZJwKFwJhTT3se0woQnqITuXomqPqKWI/s320/E9EE1296-FAB4-4228-88A0-D93FEB5518E3.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 320px;" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: start;">This archaic armour base was then supplemented with a selection of pieces from the assorted Blood Angels kits, along with bespoke Flesh Tearers shoulder pads. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: start;">To show these warriors veteran status I gave them some Crux Terminatus shoulder pads sourced from the Vanguard Veterans box.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="" id="id_61b3_26a9_e2c1_9bc7" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/v0bGaxjfTddzFZuOq4HbkAqNkwAreRuau8bghCpSlIs8SHfho15cjIpuBQwPZa8" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The finishing touch was again the addition of the resin combi-bolters from Forge World.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am really, really pleased with how this squad has turned out and I can’t wait to see how they perform on the table top.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I think next I’ll be working on some characters to lead these noble Sons of Sanguinius!</div>
<br /></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So this week I’ve continued to build up my squad of Flesh Tearer Sternguard Veterans in order to bring them up to battle ready strength.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCQb5Kluufn50O49F92__sx9brtTHF19hUr2XaJ4IUY2nLp18QB0HUCVQofg-EKvNGkncB9DhnstV2mLM9-hD2JzA_acFkLpEKbENtlzWskxugM_GdOkoyEv5e5wIn5ETT6ohJ9iNEsew/s1600/3AFB4CF0-F04E-4006-8B86-14E979784657.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="865" data-original-width="1600" height="173" id="id_404c_35a8_8108_f7da" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCQb5Kluufn50O49F92__sx9brtTHF19hUr2XaJ4IUY2nLp18QB0HUCVQofg-EKvNGkncB9DhnstV2mLM9-hD2JzA_acFkLpEKbENtlzWskxugM_GdOkoyEv5e5wIn5ETT6ohJ9iNEsew/s320/3AFB4CF0-F04E-4006-8B86-14E979784657.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 320px;" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Again the main bulk of these miniatures came from the MK IV Horus Heresy Tactical Squad with a few additions from the Blood Angels Tactical Squad and some MK III bits.</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-H2ESOTTqqFtMhmkDhMt4J9j-3eYNeb8kEpxFYe8xoCq36yx8CxTAVtr7dn16KODnvWIZuChzNi1wWLRm3Wa54Enl1D4-XptTIv_-RK9IMpYtl0CJ6vJF6KNNsAMApeQLz3qOZO65sjQ/s1600/1E3D197D-CC61-4025-9714-EEE946CBDC9D.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="833" data-original-width="1600" height="166" id="id_a443_9c4c_a314_fc5" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-H2ESOTTqqFtMhmkDhMt4J9j-3eYNeb8kEpxFYe8xoCq36yx8CxTAVtr7dn16KODnvWIZuChzNi1wWLRm3Wa54Enl1D4-XptTIv_-RK9IMpYtl0CJ6vJF6KNNsAMApeQLz3qOZO65sjQ/s320/1E3D197D-CC61-4025-9714-EEE946CBDC9D.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 320px;" width="320" /></a></div>
The Crux Terminatus shoulder pads were sourced from the Sternguard and Vanguard boxes, whilst the combi-bolters are Forge World upgrades.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxvvxlRm0eTXhYHZT3AGnMnZdsViVCWtsXAodHKKuw4N7Xj1xFwovp3AKYgCtIe1CisbWxzbS_qWENhYY2HPq_AqITaHUzsnub8PRIyVc1cEaNwjXB_uUQLhqY42vUCqCALjRyYoTzfRQ/s1600/EE9C0F09-6A31-4416-9729-8B0C5194338B.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="926" data-original-width="1600" height="185" id="id_e1e1_3abe_c058_82c8" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxvvxlRm0eTXhYHZT3AGnMnZdsViVCWtsXAodHKKuw4N7Xj1xFwovp3AKYgCtIe1CisbWxzbS_qWENhYY2HPq_AqITaHUzsnub8PRIyVc1cEaNwjXB_uUQLhqY42vUCqCALjRyYoTzfRQ/s320/EE9C0F09-6A31-4416-9729-8B0C5194338B.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 320px;" width="320" /></a></div>
I am really enjoying working on these guys...I have a real passion for the older Marks of Armour! This probably stems from my love of the original 1990 White Dwarf article (later reprinted in the 40k Compilation) that outlined the development and evolution of Space Marine battleplate.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
On reflection....I’m definitely going to work on expanding this unit up to a full ten man squad!!</div>
LegioCustodeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13833383911728446032noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5857782535346921526.post-47117848030433395602020-02-02T14:21:00.000-08:002020-02-02T14:21:45.875-08:00 Flesh Tearers Sternguard Veterans<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I’ve decided to stick with bulking out my Flesh Tearers Army for the next few weeks as I want to bring the force up to a playable (<i>and relatively competitive</i>) size.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBcY3pi9LJ7BcaV5VPXwbeaioA0w9lTj9_Gn1aM1stNJpLus-Mni7qM9KR8ghszCrIs2XpqbTwv_VewT9bqh5BrVsp22ViHmZGYUhL2Y-OSJurNB0M_JUe2aQf8ZFzir-aJX5HCXe-pW8/s1600/6A03203C-7669-4910-BD94-33E008CE2E22.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="873" data-original-width="1600" height="174" id="id_6350_b631_920c_fe9d" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBcY3pi9LJ7BcaV5VPXwbeaioA0w9lTj9_Gn1aM1stNJpLus-Mni7qM9KR8ghszCrIs2XpqbTwv_VewT9bqh5BrVsp22ViHmZGYUhL2Y-OSJurNB0M_JUe2aQf8ZFzir-aJX5HCXe-pW8/s320/6A03203C-7669-4910-BD94-33E008CE2E22.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 320px;" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I’m forcing myself not to buy any more models until I have whittled down my outstanding tons of unpainted plastic! Therefore I assembled these models solely with what I had to hand.</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmizjG24oQuDLX1K06o99nQC5a697-TWe9elFP20Kz-1mUygCiVCvOZYUCQE4zpjFvzoc4wc0lob_gTtl87Wdd_lkvlikkzUtqstVZbhiLHyduAILawk-4_R3MVudS-KCNshZgGU5UFsc/s1600/71AD4B16-523D-4A71-A6A8-50CB0E58F199.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="829" data-original-width="1600" height="165" id="id_5e99_b1d7_6acf_365f" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmizjG24oQuDLX1K06o99nQC5a697-TWe9elFP20Kz-1mUygCiVCvOZYUCQE4zpjFvzoc4wc0lob_gTtl87Wdd_lkvlikkzUtqstVZbhiLHyduAILawk-4_R3MVudS-KCNshZgGU5UFsc/s320/71AD4B16-523D-4A71-A6A8-50CB0E58F199.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 320px;" width="320" /></a><br />
<div>
As I had a load of MKIII and MKIV Space Marines from the Horus Heresy range (<i>from yet another abandoned project</i>) I mixed these archaic sets of battleplate up to represent a squad of Sternguard Veterans along with some resin Forgeworld combi-bolters that I bought years ago.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6TRW1OIOuvo8sZ3fVaTViTilI_G39El72leFv2j_eEQttGwJjMB-y8csMx_jr6YB9bPglejgwiP4J9VIUH7Gt4kXM6cD2ohEIjsRqCfj79mp8kiBlJ8lp1m0nmMGyL3vowRyDOXipojA/s1600/2AB48EAC-B0E0-483F-A426-B6BA3931D5EB.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="845" data-original-width="1600" height="169" id="id_391b_5526_8df5_ade4" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6TRW1OIOuvo8sZ3fVaTViTilI_G39El72leFv2j_eEQttGwJjMB-y8csMx_jr6YB9bPglejgwiP4J9VIUH7Gt4kXM6cD2ohEIjsRqCfj79mp8kiBlJ8lp1m0nmMGyL3vowRyDOXipojA/s320/2AB48EAC-B0E0-483F-A426-B6BA3931D5EB.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 320px;" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
The shoulder pads with the Crux Terminatus crosses on were taken from the Vanguard/Sternguard boxes.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Overall I’m really happy with how these guys have turned out and I have plenty of spares left over to bulk them out to a full squad of veteran astartes!</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So my second model for 2020 is now complete... and here we have another cool-looking character for my Flesh Tearers Army...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTq9M-b0XhZX0sOEP8kZaq54v-Wf9hzVcXnTNlskRhTQDwjZ0aRqMRiO7JCyY_aFBYC6PqknSngzaz-5rrLh4j_6WRG8aQkGlwTJB_vjJIrB_sBMAG1lY_0fq3AiWLHej0HICw_sJ98lw/s1600/EBAD84EF-770D-4BB2-A21C-5606CCF5262F.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1375" data-original-width="1600" height="275" id="id_5590_dd69_8505_d1e8" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTq9M-b0XhZX0sOEP8kZaq54v-Wf9hzVcXnTNlskRhTQDwjZ0aRqMRiO7JCyY_aFBYC6PqknSngzaz-5rrLh4j_6WRG8aQkGlwTJB_vjJIrB_sBMAG1lY_0fq3AiWLHej0HICw_sJ98lw/s320/EBAD84EF-770D-4BB2-A21C-5606CCF5262F.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 320px;" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Continuing with my noble goal of working through my huge unpainted pile of plastic for this year I have randomly selected the Primaris Librarian from the Shadowspear boxset.</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV_oKtQAyYZlpr3cXsjaRywZW8cCOvx0tQjvJJIJcmkwxyuU_0-GFd7ARx0clZKmdkQnAQUBuvtCWwEkc2O6rW0eVq9p-EbW4W89MDMCEvmoiFMio3ioXkMtaPnaG_NWHTQnH3CG0qq64/s1600/9DD0E3BD-44A9-4468-B457-229914F619D8.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1516" data-original-width="1600" height="303" id="id_8f54_e488_244e_c70f" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV_oKtQAyYZlpr3cXsjaRywZW8cCOvx0tQjvJJIJcmkwxyuU_0-GFd7ARx0clZKmdkQnAQUBuvtCWwEkc2O6rW0eVq9p-EbW4W89MDMCEvmoiFMio3ioXkMtaPnaG_NWHTQnH3CG0qq64/s320/9DD0E3BD-44A9-4468-B457-229914F619D8.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 320px;" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Much like last week’s Primaris Captain I’m not sure how much use this chap will actually get on the battlefield... but he is such a dynamic, amazing looking model that I simply had to paint him. I was especially keen to tackle those camo robes....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisZw8KfSIeRrcj7tZOG4mAArVezp7JH1mO5oegI2Dtw-hQCUctAY_asAOpz4uXMFiVwNC2R8yLplqIUnsJFwbqfR6s6iTlX_ds6kwnlYL2Z3-QMvgtxqJbNio_EGU6hyxucHvAEGRMaj8/s1600/9E3F1368-2F5F-49FB-82F6-4236B0111924.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1142" height="320" id="id_9f4d_4f48_a369_fd6d" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisZw8KfSIeRrcj7tZOG4mAArVezp7JH1mO5oegI2Dtw-hQCUctAY_asAOpz4uXMFiVwNC2R8yLplqIUnsJFwbqfR6s6iTlX_ds6kwnlYL2Z3-QMvgtxqJbNio_EGU6hyxucHvAEGRMaj8/s320/9E3F1368-2F5F-49FB-82F6-4236B0111924.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 228px;" width="228" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really love the pose of this model; unlike many of the older librarian miniatures this guy actually looks like he is in the middle of casting some destructive psychic power upon the unlucky foes of the Emperor.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhQ9_cDekIzo_vz39mawmkp0wPbvr_-Lw1zpyt4tKySNJhCeeB58WzrvlrxcxXzyUSoeoheclVjBcOg_RKinwshhCiWY9k23xLwQsslOm0W4scQry82oG-P2Na1rF6z0Z3MXGnZ6j9Lus/s1600/AAC9AD02-2073-4154-B057-CBE547283410.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1538" data-original-width="1208" height="320" id="id_1dff_4161_3905_594" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhQ9_cDekIzo_vz39mawmkp0wPbvr_-Lw1zpyt4tKySNJhCeeB58WzrvlrxcxXzyUSoeoheclVjBcOg_RKinwshhCiWY9k23xLwQsslOm0W4scQry82oG-P2Na1rF6z0Z3MXGnZ6j9Lus/s320/AAC9AD02-2073-4154-B057-CBE547283410.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 251px;" width="251" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Overall I’m really pleased with how this figure has turned out... especially the leather work which I think looks both worn and authentic.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have to say that I really enjoy painting these new Primaris characters, they are such crisp sculpts with such awesome levels of detail all over them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I imagine I’ll have a crack at a few more of these guys in 2020!</div>
<br />LegioCustodeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13833383911728446032noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5857782535346921526.post-43267851407349061442020-01-05T14:35:00.000-08:002020-01-05T14:35:13.725-08:00 Flesh Tearer’s Primaris Captain... First model of 2020<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">So my goal (</span><i style="text-align: left;">and indeed my main New Year’s Resolution</i><span style="text-align: left;">) for 2020 is to proactively work through finishing off my existing pile of unpainted grey plastic. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtx5OcktUHmJHhl8Puo3PFrvCERstz99lCRIkQnferB1lM7ezXVOO17FmeGuT6x0KwiO9CYJlcin945fGvi4o3-qGjhv4rhzIeNavD7KWcD9WZhsGG3VK8By8wqHkzTeufogeon3P6u9M/s1600/773D2F92-0237-49F8-97D1-DBD3D7D3A917.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1146" height="320" id="id_ace9_375d_ae72_90b9" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtx5OcktUHmJHhl8Puo3PFrvCERstz99lCRIkQnferB1lM7ezXVOO17FmeGuT6x0KwiO9CYJlcin945fGvi4o3-qGjhv4rhzIeNavD7KWcD9WZhsGG3VK8By8wqHkzTeufogeon3P6u9M/s320/773D2F92-0237-49F8-97D1-DBD3D7D3A917.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 229px;" width="229" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have loads of models that I have acquired over the last few decades as part of assorted projects that are now stacked up in the corner of my painting room waiting for some sort of loving attention.</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Therefore instead of buying any new miniatures this year I am determined to get some of these existing models ready for action on the table top.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXUwQxWGFtytsPPa0j3P6jEWYx-VU86BYwbcs56JJP23Y1hg5S5zzrwXvbzSlZWeLFCU5S8YArLPvoy1rJZQtyDAWEBGFUpCUUlFovQGwxWKVF5zUEWTZwWE7mnPhxQUxv8Sc4kShxvwI/s1600/80EDE5CC-30A5-4DE6-AB32-FEEA7FA0C0E3.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="988" height="320" id="id_3034_e879_cfec_39c5" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXUwQxWGFtytsPPa0j3P6jEWYx-VU86BYwbcs56JJP23Y1hg5S5zzrwXvbzSlZWeLFCU5S8YArLPvoy1rJZQtyDAWEBGFUpCUUlFovQGwxWKVF5zUEWTZwWE7mnPhxQUxv8Sc4kShxvwI/s320/80EDE5CC-30A5-4DE6-AB32-FEEA7FA0C0E3.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 197px;" width="197" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In all honesty I am not massively interested in creating unbeatable forces or game winning death-combos this year....just getting some cool looking models painted up to a good standard and deployed onto the battlefield.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Therefore this week’s model is the monopose Primaris Captain from the Shadowspear boxset that has been lingering on my paint station since March 2019.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI-XEvo-zFnr6GWqghgZ9plExDve6xj4xpgx4Obd6xWFoJBDRkvLWWKa5hPCK_m4I3bdj3xhhkoF3TiSjsv8FHnP8QM0pnPM_rtm1KsoOy2nUTTObyc8F_kUeE2UVgjo1-UXd9d0pljlk/s1600/F021C60D-C919-4F4B-B0BB-57137593C113.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1075" height="320" id="id_f804_b9e2_8ccb_6c5f" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI-XEvo-zFnr6GWqghgZ9plExDve6xj4xpgx4Obd6xWFoJBDRkvLWWKa5hPCK_m4I3bdj3xhhkoF3TiSjsv8FHnP8QM0pnPM_rtm1KsoOy2nUTTObyc8F_kUeE2UVgjo1-UXd9d0pljlk/s320/F021C60D-C919-4F4B-B0BB-57137593C113.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 215px;" width="215" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
I particularly like this model as I think it has a really cool pose that vaguely reminds me of an 1980s action hero.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I painted this particular model for my Flesh Tearers as I thought the subdued colour scheme would suit it nicely. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I decided to cut off the superfluous servo-skull and also gave him a head swap in order to better reflect a noble son of Sanguinius.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Overall I am really pleased with how this guy has turned out and I’ll probably do a few more Flesh Tearers in the next couple of months as I really like the chapter’s background and sheer ferocity!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see from the selection of pictures below it’s been a fairly productive year with a lot of models being produced for multiple armies and factions.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I’ve added to some of my existing armies over the last year, painting up small units of models to bolster their numbers or fill gaps as required.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As have my small (but growing) force of 30k era Sons of Horus in Mark 3 Armour. I really love these guys but the colour scheme I have chosen to use is very time intensive.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I must admit that I am particularly proud that I have actually done some larger vehicle models this year... including two flyers. In all honesty I’m not a big fan of vehicles so for me this is an achievement.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After finishing last week’s Rogue Trader Terminator Captain for my nascent Blood Angels force I decided that he needed someone to keep him company in the form of a Librarian clad in Tactical Dreadnought Armour.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbE78rbfPNB7fJDCvRd8RIcbc-r26Yc-sJO-1p5X87lGg4qtubsynyKV1HykhmmCbkFwreC4vt2-PiWqpwj-vnDYuVtMX6tAU-m8nNB08Kbu-01nPQXmyy7lwahuntISCYutcBA9DsrL8/s1600/699F469B-33F4-4684-93F9-3F8F6A3B3CE2.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1348" height="320" id="id_614_d948_d04d_ee2c" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbE78rbfPNB7fJDCvRd8RIcbc-r26Yc-sJO-1p5X87lGg4qtubsynyKV1HykhmmCbkFwreC4vt2-PiWqpwj-vnDYuVtMX6tAU-m8nNB08Kbu-01nPQXmyy7lwahuntISCYutcBA9DsrL8/s320/699F469B-33F4-4684-93F9-3F8F6A3B3CE2.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 269px;" width="269" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I always wanted one of these guys as a kid but at the time I was intimidated by the large amounts of iconography scattered all over the model (<i>which ironically when compared to modern space marines actually seems pretty sparse!</i>)</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcUAmGHIGcr3aV3roHKN78J1-4w9Peiqm9gTPhTshxhpPoZh0zKeRUx223b3tEfBFBmf22IkUoQ-MRPFUcoaCbOUGcQxsYADlkAeB-uTvRbKDVWPHjMKLFe6n7x5euqwPAdeRyrLd1uaI/s1600/4E0EC6F6-46E4-45C2-AF55-E84ACCF435B4.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1402" height="320" id="id_bdd8_ea86_60a2_2b79" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcUAmGHIGcr3aV3roHKN78J1-4w9Peiqm9gTPhTshxhpPoZh0zKeRUx223b3tEfBFBmf22IkUoQ-MRPFUcoaCbOUGcQxsYADlkAeB-uTvRbKDVWPHjMKLFe6n7x5euqwPAdeRyrLd1uaI/s320/4E0EC6F6-46E4-45C2-AF55-E84ACCF435B4.jpeg" style="height: auto; width: 280px;" width="280" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I spent a considerable amount of time looking at assorted Rogue Trader material for reference and it seems that there was a bit of variety around the exact heraldry of librarians at the time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Most sources seem to suggest a varying split between the warrior’s main chapter colour and a degree of blue armour panels. In the end I decided to go for the later interpretation of full blue armour offset with a red shoulder pad. I also gave him a nice yellow auxiliary shield complete with a couple of freehand blood drops!</div>

I painted the model’s Force Axe with a with my usual green recipe to offset the blue... however the blending hasn’t come out that well in this photograph.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />

For his chapter badge I managed to source one of the original Blood Angels transfers from 1989 that I’ve been holding onto for the last 30 years... I’m pleased it still worked and adhered to the model!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Finally I finished him off with a traditional goblin green base to tie this formidable fighter nicely into his origin period of the late 1980s/early 1990s.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I’m really happy with how this project is shaping up.... and this Librarian is certainly a great model to end 2019 on!!</div>
