Flesh Tearers Lieutenant in MK III Iron Armour

So I’ve been working on another officer/veteran battle brother for my slowly expanding force of Flesh Tearers this week!

As befits his chapter’s brutal and bloody background this warrior is equipped for melee with a classic Thunder Hammer and Stormshield combo. I love Thunder Hammers in the new edition of 40k as the sheer amount of damage each hit can generate is terrifying. Whilst a Stormshield is always useful in making a warrior slightly more durable on the battlefield.

Once again I mixed and matched assorted kits in order to get exactly the right miniature for me. The majority of the model is from the Horus Heresy Mk III Armour boxset with weapons and arms from other parts of the Space Marine range.

In general I kept the aesthetic rugged, simple and brutal which I think suitably reflects the nature of the Flesh Tearers as a chapter.

My one concession was the sculpture of Sanguinius on the model’s right shoulder which was taken from the Sanguinary Guard box. I felt a little gold here was appropriate to mark out the warrior’s elevated status.

Overall I am really pleased with this fighter and it is good to be working on this army again. I think next I’ll be looking to bulk it out with a few more troop choices.

  1. Love your Flesh Tearers model mate. They were the legion I painted up back in the day. You have done a better job than I did though. Precise edge highlighting really brings these models alive. Well done!

    1. Cheers mate! They are one of my favourite 40k factions, I love their background and hyper-aggressive nature! I have to say edge highlighting these Mk III models is a lot easier than more ‘modern’ armour variants!
